A main topic of discussion for the year-end meeting
was next year's plant sale. The consensus was to schedule one date at
the Botanical Garden, with the Ferguson Farmers' Market as a backup if
needed. The plant sale will count as one of our six meeting dates at the
garden. Mariel has emailed Adam with the potential dates of May 14 and 21.
The
plants for the sale will come mainly from divisions from members'
gardens. We can help each other dig up and pot plants in April.
We
will also try to share a room with another plant society, possibly the
daylily society, to draw more visitors and fill the space. Mariel
mentioned this to Adam as well.
Mariel is in
the process of having a logo created that will feature Missouri evening
primrose and can be used on flyers and the blog to promote the group.
We
have many ideas for tours and speakers for next year. Our first speaker
will be Bruce, on Conifers in Perennial Gardens. Talk ideas
included mushrooms, gutter gardens, hydrangeas, a garden q&a
session, as well as a cottage gardening talk in the fall. Some of the
tour ideas include the Children's hospital rooftop garden in late May,
Bellefontaine Cemetary trolley tour, Ben Chu's garden in June (Japanese
Garden supervisor at Mobot) and tours of the new glade garden at Mobot.
Dues for next year will be $10 and can be paid at the February meeting.
